Photographs are an investment that increase in value over time
Since I was young, horse's have always had a special place in my heart. Riding horses my entire life, I know how important these animals are to us, becoming our competitive partners, best friends, and most of the time even apart of our family. The equestrian lifestyle is a unique one, differing between ages, breeds, and disciplines but the one thing that connects us all is our love for horses. One of the most amazing parts of being an equine photographer is to meet so many incredible people that share this similar love and capture that bond behind the eye of the camera.
+ Should I work my horse before the shoot?
It is a good idea to make sure that the horse is in a good mind set prior to asking it to patiently stand in front of a camera and cooperate for extended periods of time. If your horse is usually hot headed or high strung, lunging or riding your horse down before your shoot is a good idea. Horses always seem to get more energy and antsy in front of the camera and while away from the barn.
+ Can I order Prints or a Canvas?
Of course! I work in tangent with a couple printing companies to offer you physical prints, canvases, as well as other goodies, in multiple sizes with various types. Purchases can be made directly in your personalized gallery you will receive with your images, where the entire store of all the products are available to browse. If there are other options that you want to explore, such as albums or wall art, feel free to inquire. I'm extremely flexible with any creative ideas you want to achieve.
+ How Far Do You Travel?
Prices include travel within 50 miles of Boston, Massachusetts. I am open to discuss longer distances for a mutually agreeable fee.
+ How should I pay?
There are a few options to choose from. Payment by credit card or debit card is preferred but PayPal is an option as well. I require a %50 non-refundable retainer to book a session date. The remainder of the payment is required immediately as the session begins.
+ Do you have gift certificates?
Yes! There are gift certificates for every type of session offered. Full payment is required at the time of recieving the certificate.
+ I've decided I want to book a session, what's next?
I can’t wait to work with you! After deciding which session is right for you, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or get right to it and access my calander and book your session here.
After that, you’ll be able to sign your contract and submit your session deposit online. 50% is due upon booking to reserve your date, and the remainder is due on the day of your session. I also ask new clients to fill out a short questionnaire, which helps me get to know you and your hopes & goals for the session.
+ How will I get my images?
Digital images are included in every session package. You will receive your images, usually through email, with a link to a personalized online gallery from which you can download the files straight to your computer. Completion of images depends on the type of session, but feel free to inquire. Print options of all different types and sizes are also available.
+ What should I do to prepare?
All sessions offered by us are laid back, worry-free experiences. The amount of preparation is completely up to you, but there are several suggestions. Outfit changes may be available depending on sessions, so bring a a variety of different options. Always dress appropriately for the weather, but you can wear anything from casual, dress, or horse show attire.
What makes the difference between a cute photo and a real, stunning piece of art? Proper hair and makeup! You want the best possible version of yourself to be displayed in these memories so go all out. Treat yourself and get it done professionally if you can, but ultimately I encourage you to prepare yourself in a way that makes you most comfortable. When styling your hair and makeup please keep environmental factors in mind. If you will be photographed outdoors you may want to think about the wind and heat as these elements can cause your hair to blow unflatteringly or shine to form on your face.
For your equine companion, I'd suggest you do whatever show preparation that you might do for a competition, for example: clipped, clean, make up, and clean bridle. Clipped ears and muzzle are not entirely necessary, but very highly suggested. Horses are also not required to be braided, but I really recommend it if you have the time and means!
+ When is the best time for a portrait session?
The best time for the most flattering lighting is usually first thing in the morning or a couple hours before sunset. However, any time of the day is fine.
+ Where should the session take place?
Most sessions take place where the horse lives and is most comfortable. Don’t worry if you think it’s not a beautiful place, I am good at finding the beauty most anywhere! You can also trailer to a nice park or area, if you feel that’s a better option for you and your horse.
+ What if the weather is bad?
Both sunny, partly cloudy, and sometimes even light rainy weather conditions are great for photo shoots. If there is particularly bad weather in the forecast, we can re schedule. I leave time each week specifically for this.
+ Can I bring someone to the shoot?
Yes! Feel free to bring a family member, horse trainer, friend, or significant other to your session. However be sure to warn them that they may be recruited to act silly in order to help get your equine companion to put their ears forward.
